Evidence-based and person-centred online therapy, at your pace
About Me
Hi there, welcome and thank you for your visit.
If you're reading this, you might be considering sharing some of your most personal experiences - thoughts and feelings that perhaps you haven't even shared with people closest to you. I want to honour that trust by first introducing myself not just as a professional, but as a person.
I'm Bonnie, and I believe that knowing who your therapist is as a human being is crucial in deciding whether we might be a good fit for working together. I am a queer, bilingual Clinical Psychologist who has lived, studied, and worked in Hong Kong, Canada, and the UK. I appreciate the ways our identities and life experiences shape who we are and how we move through the world, as well as the very human desire to be seen in the fullness of our identities - without judgment or assumptions.
In the therapy room, I bring warmth, authenticity, and a genuine curiosity about your story. I strive to hold your experiences with nuance, and I hope you can feel safe knowing that I see you as a whole person in all your complexities. It is important to me that I support you in exploring your experiences with compassion and sensitivity, and in helping you set down some of the burdens you've been carrying.
We can all need a dedicated space outside of our day-to-day lives to receive support and reflect on certain issues on our minds. Perhaps you’d like to explore how your early life experiences have shaped your present attachments and relationships. Or you might be seeking support on major life transitions, self-esteem issues, harsh self-talk, shame, or guilt. Maybe you have a vague sense that something is wrong but can’t quite put your finger on it. Whatever you bring, I am committed to ensuring you feel respected, seen, and heard in all of our interactions. No matter how big or small these feelings are, I will be alongside you on your journey - to bear witness and provide support. I am also a firm believer that there’s space within the therapeutic process for creativity - such as the use of imagery work and also bringing in your favourite literature/TV/movies/arts as anchors to discuss your emotional experiences. I am here to make space for tears, but also for humour and celebrations of your humanity.
A core goal of my practice is to create an environment where you feel safe to express yourself fully, without judgment. Having had the opportunity to work in a low-barrier women's shelter, a safe injection site, community centres, cancer wards, elderly homes, public healthcare clinics, and the streets in various countries, I recognise the varied and colourful lives we lead beyond labels and descriptors. I have worked extensively with the LGBTQ+ community and at one of Europe's largest HIV and sexual health clinics, and providing affirming support for people of all backgrounds and identities is something I am very passionate about. For further flexibility, I also offer therapy in both English and Cantonese.
You might be looking for focused discussions over a few sessions or a longer therapeutic relationship - I'm here to work at the pace that feels right for you. Outside of clinical work, I enjoy doing research into LGBTQ+ experiences and issues related to death and dying, topics close to my heart that I feel passionate about in terms of improving access, awareness, and open dialogue.
If you think we might be a good fit, please feel free to arrange a call to get a sense of how I work. I feel deeply privileged when people trust me with their stories, and I hope to have the opportunity to be part of your journey toward self-discovery, healing, and growth.
Looking forward to the possibility of working together.
